WoW Patch 9.1: Flying in the Shadowlands - what is forbidden?

As you know, it has been possible to earn flight permission for the Shadowlands on the public test server of WoW patch 9.1 for a few days now. This is not difficult at all: If you master the third chapter of the new story campaign, you will receive the item Memories of Sunless Skies, which allows all characters of your account to fly in the new zones of Shadowlands. So you don't need a specific fame level, nor do you need to increase your reputation with any faction.

However, as we all know, the afterlife ticks differently than Azeroth, and as such, we have to adjust to a few rules and restrictions when it comes to flying:

  • You can fly in Bastion, Ardenwald, Revendreth, and Maldraxxus. Flying is prohibited in Oribos, the Maw, and Korthia (although flying in Korthia is currently possible on the PTR thanks to a bug ).
  • You cannot fly between the different zones - they are shielded by invisible walls.
  • You cannot fly to other zones via the flight point portals.
  • You can also expect an invisible limit on height, which keeps you lower than in Azeroth, for example. For example, you won't be able to fly over some particularly tall trees in the Arden Forest.
  • On the PTR, visibility seems very low when flying, even at maximum graphics settings.
