WoW Patch 9.1: Buy cosmetic shoulders for Phantasm in Torghast

Torghast is the dark tower of the dungeon master. This is where the souls of the damned are taken. If you want to forge your first Legendary in WoW: Shadowlands, you have to go to the tower to collect Soul Ash. The chamber of the Runecutter, who forges the legendary armor for you, is also located in the Tower of the Damned.

Unfortunately, Torghast caused frustration for many players at the beginning of Shadowlands. With patch 9.1, the developers are revising Torghast once again

, primarily adjusting the bonus and loot system. This should make the tower attractive again, especially for casual players and Transmog fans.

Cosmetic shoulders in exchange for phantasm

You like the style of the villains from the maw? Then we have good news for you. With patch 9.1, you will be able to purchase the cosmetic shoulder pieces from midway merchants, who will offer you various templates for 300 Phantasm. These shoulder pieces can be used on all armor types. Perfect for adding some visual spice to those drab raid sets from the Sanctum of Domination!

This is truly good news! Finally, the excess Phantasm was previously destroyed at the end of the run. In the future, if you have any Phantasm left over just before the final boss, you can invest it in cosmetic shoulders. However, you can also save Phantasm until the end - provided your hero is well equipped and can do without the merchant bonuses. The offer depends on the area in Torhgast and you will need quite a while to collect all templates with the many shapes and colors. The full gallery of all the shoulder templates found so far can be found on Wowhead.

Cosmetic capes

To go with the fancy shoulders, there will also be cosmetic capes that are all about Torghast and the Maw. These are not classic capes, but rather floating back adornments. The already known Pact capes have a similar design. The cool thing about the Torghast back ornament is that it perfectly matches the armor from the new raid Sanctum of Domination. Here is the picture with full plate armor from the raid and the matching cape from the Tower of the Dungeon Master:

  • Borrowed Eye Crescent
  • Beastcaller's Skull Crescent
  • Painbringer's Back-Prison
  • Warden's Torture Kit
  • Gilded Agony Cage
  • Cold Burden of the Damned
  • Tormentor's Manacled Backplate

The Torghast capes are the same shape, but come in different colors to match the respective raid armor from the different difficulty levels. Another Transmog highlight is Zul'gath's Backplate, which looks like an Iron Maiden. Where exactly the cosmetic capes drop is still unknown. However, in the game files of patch 9.1, there is an NPC named Zul'gath the Flayer who will most likely drop the aforementioned item as loot. Meanwhile, another template was discovered by WoW streamer MrGM on an intermediate boss in Torghast:

How do you like the cosmetic shoulders and new capes? Do they make it worth your while to visit Torghast again? Or do the customizations and Transmog templates leave you completely cold?
