For almost a week now, there have been accusations that a so-called "frat boy" culture is prevalent at Activision Blizzard; a culture in which, not only, but also, women are the target of excessive alpha behavior. A culture and work environment where no one should feel comfortable. In particular, serious accusations have been made against members of the World of Warcraft development team. Now the team has addressed the players with a message.
So far the message is only available in the original English, we took the liberty of consulting the translator Deepl:
It was clear from our team discussions that we wanted to make a statement that reflected the opinion of the World of Warcraft team. We asked all team members to send us their suggestions and feedback on how best to address the community, and this is the result.
The past few days have been a time of reflection for the World of Warcraft team, spent in conversation and contemplation, filled with sadness, pain, and anger, but also hope and determination. In light of the brave women who have come forward to share their experiences, we are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure that we create an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for both our team and our players in Azeroth. Those of us in leadership are aware that it is not up to us to judge when we have achieved our goals, but rather it is up to our team and community to let us know when we have more work to do.
While we look to our team in our internal work to protect marginalized groups and hold those who threaten them accountable, we also want to take immediate action in Azeroth to remove innuendo that is not appropriate for our world. This work is already underway, and you'll be seeing some of these changes in both the Shadowlands and WoW (Buy Now $14.99 ) Classic in the coming days.
We know that in order to restore trust, we'll have to earn it through our actions in the coming weeks and months. But we move forward knowing that we share the same vision as our community, which is to create a place where people of all genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and backgrounds can thrive and proudly call home.

As the makers of WoW promise, all references to the former Senior Creative Director Alex Afrasiabi, against whom there are all kinds of heavy accusations of sexual harassment, will be removed from WoW Classic and Shadowlands. The developers have already started with this, because the list is quite long - not only Afrasiabi allusions will be removed from the game, but also all those with the name Foror, Furor or Kariel.
